Church Group Hosts Art Fundraiser

Life Net Community Development Corporation, affiliated with Life Church of God in Christ, recently featured an innovative fund-raising event; they sponsored an art fund raiser featuring the works of Synthia Saint James, Charles Bibb, BerniE and other artists who donated their works for the showing.

The event was held atop City Hall in downtown Riverside, on the 7th floor at the Grier Pavilion. Fine art aficionados had the opportunity to bid for their favorite pieces that they could envision hanging in a prominent place in their homes or offices.

Vatican Sex Abuse Guidelines After Crisis

Associated Press Writer

The Vatican issued a revised set of in-house rules last Thursday to respond to clerical sex abuse, targeting priests who molest the mentally disabled as well as children and priests who use child pornography, but making few substantive changes to existing practice.

The new rules make no mention of the need for bishops to report clerical sex abuse to police, provide no canonical sanctions for bishops who cover up for abusers and do not include any ``one-strike and you're out'' policy for pedophile priests as demanded by some victims.
