"Our student-athletes put forth a tremendous commitment toward their respective sports and academics,'' Director of Athletics Brian Swanson says. "These 40 individuals have set high standards for themselves in their academics and we're very proud of what they have accomplished.

"We have a well-respected group of coaches and academic advising department, who continue their dedication toward developing each student-athlete.''

To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be a varsity letter winner who competed in one of 13 CCAA-sponsored sports and record a grade point average of 3.40 or above in a minimum of 24 semester or 36 quarter units.

The 40 Bronco student-athletes participated in 11 of the 13 CCAA-sponsored sports. Only UC San Diego, which led the way with 80 student-athletes honored, participates in all 13 sports.
