The San Bernardino Community College District is joining with The Grove School to offer The High School Summer Skills Program at the Grove School. There are two semesters of courses available. The program is designed to give high school
students the opportunity to build their skills in critical academic areas that may better prepare them for high school success and college-level coursework.
The new program kick-off will take place at The Grove School, 200 Nevada St., Redlands, CA 92373, on May 31 at 2 p.m.
The courses meet the A-G requirements for college preparation. Courses available are Algebra 1, Geometry, English Composition, World History, Biology, Health (First semester only) and Spanish 1. The cost for each course is $135.
First Semester courses are 8 am – noon, Friday, June 15 through Tuesday, July 3.
Second semester courses are 8 am – noon, Monday, July 9 through Wednesday, July 25.
Register in person only between 8 am and 4 pm at The Grove School. Classes will be filled on a first-come, first served basis. Only completed applications, completed registration forms, payments and immunization records (for students who do not attend Grove) will be accepted. Students should bring a photo ID to registration. Payments are acceptable through either money order or check – checks should be made out to “SBCCD-Professional Development Center”.
The Grove School may cancel classes due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances with a full refund. No refunds will be given after classes start.
Summer school attendance policy is as follows: Summer school instruction is compressed into an extremely short time frame. For this reason, attendance is strictly observed. In order to satisfy class requirements, students must be present and on time each day. Students who are not present the first day of class will be automatically dropped. Teachers will count students tardy at the beginning of each period. Each tardy is equivalent to one absence. Illnesses and medical appointments also count as absences. Students with more than two absences during the summer semester will be dropped regardless of the reason.
