Music Changing Lives Celebrates 20 Years
Music Changing Lives (MCL), a leading after school program in the field of music and art enrichment is celebrating its 20th anniversary of serving children throughout the inland empire.
MCL’s programs are offered at the Redlands Community Center and on five school campuses in Moreno Valley with a core focus of reducing dropout rates and providing a safe and creative space for students directly after school when juvenile crimes are at their peak. A variety of classes including guitar, piano, drums, dance, audio production and engineering, recording classes, visual arts, tutoring and financial literacy are available to children and youth.
With the support of community partners, donors, sponsors and volunteers, the organization is making a remarkable impact within the inland empire. In 2016/2017, participants completed a combined total of 1325 community service hours through a school beautification project. MCL employs 35 college students through the Federal Work Study program, creating an economic impact of over $132,000 every year. Since the organization began in 1998, they have served over 45,000 children and families.
Assemblymember Jose Medina, a supporter of MCL commented, “This nonprofit organization provides Moreno Valley students access to arts and music education programs that help enrich their lives both in and out of the classroom. I am grateful for the service Music Changing Lives has provided to the youth in our community for the past 20 years and look forward to its continued growth over the next 20.”

The mission of Music Changing Lives is to offer the highest quality music and art enrichment programs to underprivileged and at-risk youth, between the ages of 5-19, helping them improve their chances of achieving a positive and successful future.
