Things remain the same at Rialto Eisenhower High School as the Eagles continue their Inland Empire dominance with an 82-74 win over Damien in a Division 2A semifinal game.
The Eagles (27-5) got 19 points and 10 rebounds from Alex Varner, who spearheaded a late Ike run as Coach Steve Johnson has worked his magic again.
Eisenhower, past state champions, will take on Pasadena in the finals.
Down the road at Etiwanda High School, the Eagles prepare to take on nationally ranked Santa Ana Mater Dei in the Division 1AA finals. Etiwanda had to get by local rival Los Osos in the division semifinal. Fontana Summit could not get by a tough Murrieta Valley team in the Division 2AA semifinal, losing 76-49.
Fontana’s Summit High School girls’ team continues to show age does not matter as the young team from Fontana got by Canyon Springs 72-71 in a Division 1A semifinal to face Santa Monica in the championship game. Adrianne Thomas had 29 points in the game. Summit is the youngest school out of the four high schools in the city of Fontana.
Riverside County can boast a little as two of the water polo teams claimed CIF titles over the weekend.
Water seems to be natural for Riverside Poly as their girls’ team beat another top program, Corona Santiago, in a 7-6 win in the CIF Division 3 final.
Not to be outdone, Riverside Arlington just got by Los Osos 9-8 in the CIF Division 5 final in water polo.
There were no local soccer teams in CIF finals.
