Al Jury – 5 Time Super Bowl Official Honored

The National Football League Referees Association (NFLRA) announced the selection of Al Jury – a former NFL Official,JuryAl-Son0211 Position Trainer and current Replay Official – as its 2010 Annual Honoree. The award is in recognition of Al’s outstanding NFL officiating career and his long-time service to fellow officials on the Association Board of Directors. He will be honored at the NFLRA’s 2010 Spring Meeting in April.

Al Joined the NFL officiating staff in 1978 when the League added a seventh official to each officiating crew. The youngest of the 17 officials who joined the league that season, he was assigned numbered 106.

He worked as a Back Judge and Field Judge during his 26 years on the field. His numerous playoff assignments included five Championship Games and one Pro Bowl. Al is one of five officials to have officiated five Super Bowls, all even numbered games—XX, XXII, XXIV, XXVIII and XXXIV. Since leaving the field six years ago, he worked four seasons as a Position Trainer, and has worked the last two seasons as a Replay Official.

Al and his wife, Juanita, reside in Rialto, and have three sons, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He and former NFL player and Hall of Famer Ronnie Lot were recently inducted into the Rialto Hall of Fame, Class of 2009.
