SBVC Players Honored by Football Assn.

SBVC-Stacy-HowardSBVC had four players named to the California Community Colleges Football Coaches Association Region VI team it was announced Friday.

Leading the list of players was freshman wide receiver Stacey Howard (Fontana Azariel Blanchard Miller). Howard played in 8 games for SBVC collecting 40 receptions for 619 yards and 13 touchdowns, averaging 15.5 yards per catch and 77.4 yards per game. Howard also set the school record for most touchdown receptions in a game with five, versus Victor Valley.

Also honored were freshman punter Dylan Schul (Riverside John Wesley North), sophomore linebacker Marcus Pesquera (Lake Arrowhead Rim of the World), and sophomore offensive guard Miguel Herrera (Redlands H.S.).

Pesquera dominated on the defensive side of the ball. He set the school record for tackles in a season with 124, securing the record with a 14 tackle performance on the last week of the season versus East L.A.

Schul was named a first team all-California selection for the second consecutive year for averaging 37.5 yards per punt, totaling 1,164 yards on 31 punts, including 3 punts of 50 or more yards and 11 inside the 20 yard line. His longest punt of the year was for 59 yards versus Chaffey in week one.

Herrera anchored an offensive line that only gave up 20 sacks on the year.
