Cal Poly Adds Size With New Recruits
Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball head coach Greg Kamansky announced Monday that Jordan Faison and Ryan Hall have signed national letters of intent to attend the university and join the Broncos' squad for the 2012-13 academic year.
Both superb high school student-athletes, Faison tallied one of the top field-goal percentages in program history for El Toro High School while Hall maintained the second-highest scoring average in Orange County as a 6-foot-8 forward at La Habra High School.
Faison is coming off his senior season at El Toro High, which is located in Lake Forest, Calif. In a postseason game against Long Beach Cabrillo, Faison totaled a team-high 21 points to help the Chargers put together a 16-8 run in the comeback win.
"We think Jordan has a lot of potential as he's only been playing basketball for a few years,” Kamansky said. “He's grown a lot with the help of the El Toro coaching staff, led by Todd Dixon. With his good size and athleticism, we think Jordan can be an impact player in our program."
During the 2011-12 school year, the 6-foot-5 Faison helped the Chargers to a 22-9 overall record while competing out of the South Coast League. At the conclusion of the season, Faison earned All-South Coast League, All-CIF Division 1A Second Team and South Coast League Co-Most Valuable Player honors.
This past season, during the 2011-12 school year, Hall helped La Habra to a 17-11 overall record and a 6-4 mark within the Southern Section Freeway League. Per game, the 6-foot-8 forward averaged 24.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 1.4 blocks.
"Ryan is a very skilled player and once he gets bigger and stronger, we believe he will bring major contributions to our program," Kamansky said. "He's an excellent student and has a strong interest in engineering. We're confident Ryan will succeed in managing the workload for such a demanding academic program while excelling on the basketball court as well."
At the conclusion of the 2011-12 campaign, Hall received All-CIF Division 2A First Team and La Habra Varsity Most Valuable Player accolades. He also starred in the classroom throughout his high school career, earning Principal's Honor Roll and Scholar Athlete recognition all four years.
