The CAPOC annual picnic/carnival this year at its new facility was fantastic as usual. The new twist was the debut of Jimmy “RAY” Colquitt aka Jim Colquitt’s “Hit the Road, Jack” was the hit of the day. So thanks to Cheryl Hopkins for the invite to an annual event hosted by the Jackson family of Irvine, and thanks to them for the best fish, trimmings, and hospitality--it must be an Irvine thing! And to Ruth & Burnie Hayes, for sharing garden.and on-going kindness. It is a fact, I will pick tomatoes, etc., for sharing.

The July 10th meeting of NAACP will be an information forum and should be interesting.

Happy upcoming belated birthday wishes to: Sandy Lynch, Milton Grimes, Bernard Hardy, Larry Wilmore, Lawrence Hunter, and Curtis Johnson, Jr. The article, book (and pictures) re blacks in Orange County seems to be info from a very limited, unfamiliar, unknowing group, that don’t know or want “them to be mentioned.” How can so many people and their contributions be ignored?  Is the idea to know who is here and when they got here (OC), or what has happened since or because of who is here?

Til next week …
