February 2 – The North Long Beach Quarterly Community Assembly will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Houghton Park, 6301 Myrtle Ave., Long Beach. A presentation will be made on the final designs and development details of the new
North Branch Library, demolition of the old Atlantic Theater, services and more. Robert Luman, the new Long Beach Police North Division Commander, will provide an update on area activities. Light refreshments will be served. Call (562) 570-6137.

February 3 – The California African American Museum kicks off Black History Month with a wide range of performances by special guests. Television and film actress Anna Maria Horsford co-hosts with Jeffrey Anderson-Gunter. Program is free. Museum opens at 11:00 a.m.; program begins at 1:00 p.m. The Museum is located at 600 State Drive, Exposition Park, Los Angeles. Call (213) 744-7432.

I.E. Group Hosts Black Grad
Last Thursday, the Inland Empire Alliance of Black School Educators hosted it's 2nd High School Black Graduation on the campus of California State University San
Bernardino. There were over 130 graduates recognized and bestowed stoles in honor of their African heritage. Approximately 200 parents, community members, and dignitaries gathered to celebrate the students' accomplishments. The keynote speaker for the evening was Dr. Daniel Walker.
